MPs to debate benefits delay

Members of Parliament are preparing for a debate ,Wednesday, with State Secretary of Finances, Frans Weekers, about the delay of rent, healthcare and other benefits. Norbert Klein (50Plus) had turned in a motion, which got support from all other fractions. The benefit payments are delayed because new regulations dictate only one account may be used for all the benefits, to minimize chances of fraud. Dutch Financial State Secretary Frans Weekers

The opposition demanded earlier that Weekers see to it that everybody receive the benefits they are entitled to as soon as possible. However Weekers wants to maintain the main points as outlined in his policy, according to the letter he addressed to Parliament Tuesday.
