Police investigate fireworks accident that leaves 7 with hearing loss

Seven people suffered hearing loss on New Year's Eve in Hilversum when somebody threw heavy fireworks in their midst. The police announced Monday they are investigating the incident.The seven were standing near a catering establishment on the Koninginneweg, a little after midnight. It is likely someone threw the fireworks from a balcony and it exploded in the group. Several people in one home were questioned, but nobody was arrested, according to the police. The seven victims will undergo a follow-up medical exam soon.
