Shame over division church
Nine out of ten Christians are ashamed of the divisions within the church. They would like to form one church, but many churchgoers doubt whether that is feasible. This became evident from a survey of nearly 4,000 people, commissioned by the National Synod. The national meeting of fifty denominations will be held in Dordrecht this year on Friday and Saturday. The theme of the meeting this time is unity.

Wikipedia.org Of the participants in the study 80 percent think that the Christian message does not come across because of the internal divisions of the churches. More than half of the surveyed Christians eventually want one global church of Lutherans, Protestants, Catholics and Anglicans. The respondents see several obstacles to unity. They think that especially the different views on the Bible (49 percent), on sacraments such as baptism and communion (57 percent), and gay marriage (48 percent), hinder the process. Christians from many denominations participated in the study. Of the 3,724 respondents twenty were from the Roman Catholic Church, the largest denomination in the Netherlands.
