NS: free Wi-Fi on 48 stations

Starting September train travelers will have access to free Wi-Fi on 48 NS stations. Working with KPN, the NS will offer free wireless internet on stations in cities such as Amsterdam, The Hague, Groningen and Maastricht for at least one year.Wireless internet has been available in Intercity's for the pas three years. The railway company sees it as an additional service to the traveler who wants to surf the internet on the go.

The newspaper Sp!ts discovered this month that travelers could already sign in via Wi-Fi on NS-stations. The railroad company has not yet announced the free service to test whether the network can handle a large number of users simultaneously.

Until recently only paid internet was available on some stations.
