Hoogerland Wins In Tiel

Dutch National Champion Johnny Hoogerland has won the Saturday ‘Profronde van Tiel’, a one day race held every summer in Tiel. The rider from Vacansoleil defeated at the finish Bauke Mollema of team Belkin, the number 6 of the Tour de France, in a sprint à deux. At an appropriate distance Bobbie Traksel became third. In Tiel a separate race for women also took place, which was won by Marianne Vos. The Olympic and world champion defeated in the final sprint Dutch champion Lucinda Brand, her teammate at Rabobank-Liv/Giant. Ellen van Dijk finished third. In the Belgian town of Ninove, Nairo Quintana won a race. The Colombian, second in the Tour and winner of the white jersey and the polka dot jersey, proofed this time to be too quick for Tour de France winner Chris Froome, who became second.
