Dutch cyclist wins Tour de France Femmes stage; fellow Dutch takes second place
Dutch cyclist Lorena Wiebes won the third stage of the Tour de France Femmes on Monday. She outsprinted a small lead group after a crash in the final kilometers. Fellow Dutch rider Marianne Vos finished second in the stage. Thanks to time bonuses, Vos regained the yellow jersey — the symbol of the overall race leader — RTL reports.
Wiebes is the reigning European champion and rides for SD Worx–Protime. She completed the 163.5-kilometer stage from La Gacilly to Angers ahead of Vos.
This victory marks Wiebes’s fourth stage win in the Tour de France Femmes. She won two stages in 2022 and one in 2023 but did not win a stage last year.
A crash near the finish disrupted the peloton. Dutch rider Demi Vollering and Kimberley Le Court of Mauritius, who was the race leader before the stage, were involved.
