On Monday evening the police shot and injured a man at the Orchideestraat in Almere. The police had responded to a report of a threatening situation. When confonted, the man fled and was later found with a deadly weapon at the Orchideestraat. The situation was so threatening that the police had no choice but to shoot. Nothing is known yet about the identity of the injured man nor the extent of his injuries. An air ambulance arrived at the scene for medical assistance. Then he was taken to a hospital by ambulance. As normally done for shooting incidents where policemen are involved, the National Police are investigating this case.
