Ambulance Personnel On Strike

Ambulance personnel will expand their actions in the next few weeks with work interruptions. On Wednesday employees will stop working for two hours from 12.30 pm in Almere and Lelystad in the province in Flevoland. According to the workers union Abvakabo FNV, other places will follow. The strikes are a response to the failed collective agreement (CAO) negotiations in February. Problem areas are work schedules, wages and job security. Personnel feel that they have to work under high pressure, and that they have to break rules and guidelines because of this. Nu.nl reported that employees campaigned earlier by taking more time to guide patients and clean stretchers, and by following speed limits during non-emergency trips.
