Dutch travel agency FlyOrange is filing for bankruptcy. All FlyOrange flights will be canceled in the coming weeks. This involves dozens of flights from Rotterdam The Hague Airport and Brussels to destinations in Morocco. Hundreds of travelers will be affected, RTL Nieuws reports.

FlyOrange director Roy Smit confirmed to RTL that the company is filing for bankruptcy on Friday. "We are debt-free, but we do not have any assets at this moment because of a payment arrears from our partner Aviatrade." Aviatrade carries out flights for FlyOrange.

FC Twente is threatening to file for bankruptcy if the Enschede city council does not stand guarantee for 7 million euros, newspaper Tubantia reported on Thursday. There is not much political willingness to stand guarantee for more money for the football club, sources told the newspaper.

Dutch company Koinz Trading was declared bankrupt by the court of Amsterdam on Wednesday. The company, which offered customers access bitcoin mining machines and cryptocurrency investments, is facing dozens of customers demanding compensation for damages, the Telegraaf reports. 

Customers never received access to the mining machines they invested in, and therefore also not the Bitcoins they could've mined, according to the newspaper. Lawyer Marco Kalmijn told the Telegraaf that around 60 customers are trying to recover "many millions" from Koinz Trading.

Kijkshop closed all of its stores on Monday and Swedish owner The One filed for bankruptcy on Tuesday. Some 400 people are now facing unemployment, NU.nl reports.

The chain suffered under the changing retail world, where customers increasingly opt to shop online. Last year Kijkshop already closed 20 of its total 87 stores because they were no longer profitable. Some stores were sold to Neckermann. At the time the group stated that it wanted to maintain its physical store locations in addition to its online activities.

The number of companies in the Netherlands being declared bankrupt continues to decrease. In August 39 fewer companies were declared bankrupt than in July, Statistics Netherlands reported on Monday. The number of bankruptcies in the Netherlands is now at its lowest level since 2001. 

A total of 258 companies and institutions, excluding sole proprietorships, were declared bankrupt in August. The trade sector saw the most bankruptcies with 67, followed by financial institutions (35) and the construction industry (25).

Bankrupt women's fashion chain Witteveen is making a restart. A group of Dutch investors, united in the newly established Witteveen Retail B.V., signed a restart agreement with the bankruptcy administrator, the administrator announced on Tuesday, NU.nl reports. 

Witteveen currently has 72 stores. The new owners want to keep as many of these stores, and the jobs in them, as possible. How many stores can be saved will depend on, among other things, the negotiations with the landlords. Before the bankruptcy, Witteveen had 94 stores and 400 employees.

Dutch food and consumer product safety authority NVWA denies that it first learned that eggs were maybe contaminated by toxic fipronil in November last year. The authority did receive a report about fipronil in that month, but that report only stated that it had been used to clean stables - there was no reason to believe that it could end up in eggs and pose a potential health risk, inspector general Rob van Lint said on Wednesday, RTL Nieuws reports.

Fashion chain Tuunte was declared bankrupt by the court in Zutphen on Tuesday, director Louis van Andel announced. He already informed the 250 employees working in the 45 Tuunte stores. The stores will likely remain open for the time being, and a bankruptcy administrator will investigate whether a restart is possible, ANP reports.

The bankruptcy administrator working on fashion chain Witteveen has good hope that a restart will be possible and that as many jobs as possible will be reserved, he said in a press release. According to administrator Rinke Dulack, "a fair number of candidates" signed up to realize a restart for the bankrupt company, NU.nl reports.

Dulack made a selection from the candidates and is discussing a possible restart with a number of parties. He added that the process may "take some time".

Dutch women's fashion brand Witteveen was declared bankrupt, the Telegraaf reports. The 98 stores in the chain may not be open on Wednesday and the about 400 employees will be left on the streets, according tot he newspaper.

The bankruptcy came as a result of excessive outstanding taxes. According to the newspaper, the Tax Authorities requested the bankruptcy because the company would not hold to a payment scheme.

The number of personal bankruptcies dropped to its lowest level since 2000 in 2016, continuing the downward trend of the last three years, Statistics Netherlands said on Tuesday. Last year there were a 1,545 personal bankruptcies in the Netherlands, about a quarter less than in 2015 and 62 percent less than in 2013. 

According to Statistics Netherlands, the decrease can be attributed to the fact that economic conditions in the Netherlands improved significantly since 2013.

The former director of a bankrupt family business in Rijswijk is the main suspect in a  ice skating stadium in Heerenveen on Saturday. Businessman Bert Jonker was injured in the shooting. Jonker's company picked up the bankrupt estate of the main suspect's company in 2015, the Volkskrant reports.
