The Royal House released photos of King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima enjoying their annual winter holiday in Lech, Austria with their daughters Princesses Amalia, Alexia and Ariane.

This year they were joined by Princess Beatrix, as well as Prince Constantijn, Princess Laurentien and their children.

As is almost a tradition by now, the Dutch royal couple and their three daughters posed for photos at the start of their skiing vacation in Lech, Austria on Monday.

The Royal family goes skiing in Lech every year, according to broadcaster NOS. To avoid being followed around by photographers all through their vacation, they always meet the press for a few photos at the start of their holiday.

A 33-year-old man from Amsterdam was killed in an avalanche in Lech-Zurs, Austria on Monday, the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed to ANP after reports from Austrian broadcaster ORF.

The avalanche happened around 12:30 p.m. on Monday. Emergency services were at the scene within minutes, but still too late to help the Dutch an. According to Lech mayor Ludwig Muxel, the man was under a meter and a half of snow when the rescuers freed him.

A surgical procedure to mend the broken leg of Princess Alexia went well, the press office of the Dutch royal family announced late Saturday night. The princess is likely to remain hospitalized for the next few days after injuring herself in a skiing accident while on holiday in Lech, Austria.

The death of Prince Friso on Monday has shocked many people around the world. Hundreds of cameramen gathered in front of the palace in The Hague where the Prince died. Dutch journalist and numerous foreign colleagues try to get a glimpse of anybody who goes in and out and many Dutch visit the palace to lay down some flowers.

Not only was the death of Friso prime news at the Dutch TV broadcasters, radio stations and newspapers, but also from the United States to Australia the death was broadcasted.

Prince Friso, the younger brother of king Willem-Alexander, was transferred from Wellington Hospital in London to Huis ten Bosch Palace. This was reported by the Government Information Service (RVD) Tuesday, on behalf of the royal family. The state of the prince is unchanged and is described by the RVD as 'minimal consciousness'. Friso has arrived on Tuesday at Huis ten Bosch.
