More than half of the schools that switched, or seriously considered switching, to so-called Steve Jobs Education over the past years, have since switched back to standard education, the Volkskrant reports after surveying the 46 involved schools. Most cite high costs imposed by initiator Maurice de Hond as the reason for abandoning the iPad-only concept.
The Open University will be investigating the effects that the Steve Jobs schools, also known as iPad schools, have on children.
The Educational Innovation Group (OIG) and the Open University's Welten Institute launched an independent investigation into the impact of so-called iPad schools, also known as Steve Jobs schools. The concept behind iPad schools is to provide education for the new era and this is the first investigation that will concentrate solely on facts, the group said.
