Some 2,000 people gather on Schouwburgplein in Rotterdam to protest against human rights violations in Morocco's Rif region, 4 Jun 2017

Dutch-Moroccans gathered on the Schouwburgplein in Rotterdam on Sunday to protest against human rights violations and injustices in the Moroccan Rif region and for the release of political prisoners. An estimated 2 thousand people from the Netherlands and abroad took part in the protest, Bouchra Banhammou of organizing committee Moshen Fikri Nederland said to NU.nl.

The protesters want to show support for the people's movement in the Rif region. PvdA European Parliamentarian Kati Piri and former parliamentarian Ahmed Marcouch spoke at the event.

Chinese giant pandas Wu Wen and Xing Ya arrived safely in the Netherlands. After traveling nearly 8 thousand kilometers from Chengdu in China, they arrived at their new home in Ouwehands Zoo in Rhenen just before midnight on Wednesday, NOS reports.

The two pandas are on loan from China. They will be living in Ouwehands Zoo for the next 15 years.
