The Supreme Court shot down one of the Dutch government's main arguments for abolishing dividend tax. The Netherlands' dividend tax is legally very sustainable and not discriminatory for foreign investors. It therefore does not have to be abolished to prevent lawsuits and repayment of taxes, Advocate General Peter Wattel of the Supreme Court wrote in advice to the government, NOS reports.

Internet providers and telecom companies no longer have to store communications data, the court ruled today, stating that the importance of privacy outweighs the need for the information, NOS reports. The judge scrapped the law that obliges companies to do so.

The Council of States concluded in an advice to the First Chamber that the elimination of the so-called free choice of doctor is not contrary to European law. It is the citizen's choice to limit the choice of doctor to care providers who have a contract with the selected insurance companies.
