Breda police investigate the stabbing death of a teenager

A 16-year-old boy suspected of stabbing a 15-year-old girl to death in a Breda home on Monday was remanded to 14 days in custody by the court in Breda during his arraignment on Thursday. The Public Prosecutor suspects the boy of murder or manslaughter, AD reports.

The girl, identified as Megan by local media, was stabbed stabbed in a home on Bilderdijkstraat in Breda, where she lived with her mother. Despite emergency services' attempts to resuscitate her, she died at the scene.

Armin A., a 25-year-old man convicted of forcing an underage girl to work as a prostitute in Valkenburg in 2015, has again been sentenced to prison. The court in Maastricht sentenced him to 2.5 years in prison with institutionalized psychiatric treatment for abducting and assaulting his ex-girlfriend. He was also found guilty of drug trafficking and burglary, RTL Nieuws reports.

The construction of a Holocaust Monument of Names on Weesperstraat in Amsterdam can continue, the court in Amsterdam ruled on Tuesday. Local residents objected to the monument, complaining that it is too large and should rather be built somewhere else, but the court rejected these objections, RTL Nieuws reports. 

The memorial will contain the names of 102 thousand Jewish, Sinti and Romani people who were deported in the Second World War and who have no grave. The names will be shown on walls arranged in a maze-like formation. The monument was designed by Daniel Libeskind.

Gokmen T., the man suspected of killing four people and hurting multiple others in a mass shooting in Utrecht in March, must attend the next pro-forma hearing in the case against him, the court in Midden-Nederland ordered.

T. previously stated in writing that he did not want to be present, but the court "considers it important to be able to speak to the suspect during this hearing about the progress of his criminal case", the court said, NU.nl reports.

The next hearing in this case is scheduled for Monday, July 1st.
