Fewer young people are drinking these days, but the amount of alcohol consumed by those who do drink is worrying. Dutch organization VeiligheidNL says that the number of young people admitted to hospital for alcohol poisoning has been consistently high over the last years, the Algemeen Dagblad reports.
Doctors are not noticing a difference between how parents and young people are handling their alcohol intake. Last year, the number of young people who ended up unconscious or in hospital due to alcohol stayed relatively the same. In the first quarter of 2014, doctors have also not noticed a difference.
5300 people ended up in the emergency room last year, with alcohol poisoning.
