Victim resuscitated on Rotterdam street after shooting; 5 suspects arrested

A man was seriously injured in the second shooting on Nieuwe Binnenweg in Rotterdam in just over 24 hours. First responders resuscitated the victim at the scene before rushing him to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The police arrested seven suspects.
The shooting happened just after 5:30 a.m. on Nieuwe Binnenweg between Mathenesserlaand and Van Speykstraat. Emergency services responded to the scene in large numbers.
Shortly after the shooting, the police reported arresting five suspects. Later on Friday morning, when reporting the victim's death, the police said that seven suspects were in custody. “Their role is being investigated,” the Rotterdam police said on X. “Much remains unclear about the circumstances.”
According to Rijnmond, the arrested suspects include at least one woman. Police found at least one firearm during the arrests, reportedly in a car. Rijnmond reporters at the scene saw officers search a car within the cordoned-off area.
Early on Thursday morning, there was another shooting on Nieuwe Binnenweg. A man was shot in the neck and the leg. He was rushed to a hospital in critical condition. The shooting happened shortly after the city’s Keti Koti celebrations ended, and the street was very crowded.
As far as is known, no arrests have been made in connection with that shooting.
