Video: Person shot on Rotterdam street after Keti Koti celebration; Critically injured
A person was critically injured in a shooting on Nieuwe Binnenweg in Rotterdam overnight. The shooting happened shortly after the end of the city’s Keti Koti celebrations, and the street was still very crowded.
Emergency services responded to the scene at around 1:15 a.m., the Rotterdam police said on X. First responders provided aid to the victim on the street before rushing them to the hospital by ambulance. Hart van Nederland reported that the victim is a man and that he was badly injured.
Witnesses at the scene told Rijnmond that the street was still very crowded due to the Keti Koti celebration. The police had to actively clear the area, hitting multiple people with their batons as they ordered them off the crime scene, the witnesses said.
Once the street was clear, the police cordoned off Nieuwe Binnenweg in both directions and started a forensic investigation. Two bullet casings were found on the street.
No arrests have been made. Investigators asked witnesses or anyone with relevant video or photos to come forward.
