Police release new footage of man wanted for assaulting two cycling women in Utrecht
The Utrecht police released new footage of a man who violently beat and choked two cycling women within 30 minutes of each other in the city early on Friday morning. On Opsporing Verzocht, investigators again asked the public to help identify the perpetrator.
The man attacked the first woman while she was cycling along Potgieterstraat around 2:00 a.m. on Friday. He attacked the second woman on Leidseveer at approximately 2:30 a.m. He pulled both victims from their bikes and beat them, including putting them in a chokehold.
Both victims described the perpetrator as having a broad head and crooked teeth. He is slender, between 1.7 and 1.8 meters tall, and is estimated to be between 20 and 40 years old. Footage also shows the man walking and smoking on Kanaalstraat.
The police believe that the same man attacked both women. At this stage, the police believe he chose the victims at random.
Investigators asked witnesses or anyone who thinks they recognize this man to contact them at once. “Please help to get this man off the street.”
