Venlo man who escaped Roermond hospital custody arrested in Düsseldorf

A 43-year-old man from Venlo who escaped from custody during a hospital visit in Roermond in March, authorities said.

The Public Prosecution Service (OM) said Friday the Venlo man was arrested in Düsseldorf after being sought for two months by Dutch authorities together with German authorities. The Netherlands has requested extradition.

The man was detained in connection with a drug investigation in Limburg. He escaped on March 20 while under supervision during a hospital visit in Roermond.

On the same day in Utrecht, another detainee also escaped during a hospital visit. That man was located and arrested later that day following a search operation.
