38-year-old Amsterdam man arrested in fatal Amsterdam-Oost stabbing

A 38-year-old man from Amsterdam has been arrested on suspicion of involvement in a fatal stabbing that killed another Amsterdammer, 54, near a basketball court in Amsterdam-Oost, NH reports.

The stabbing occurred around 10 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, on the Tugelaweg. Police received a report of a fight near the basketball court at the Maritzstraat, authorities said. Officers found a seriously wounded man at the scene. He died from his injuries.

Police announced the 38-year-old suspect’s arrest Friday morning. He was taken into custody earlier this week and was presented to an examining magistrate.

A second man was arrested shortly after the stabbing but is no longer considered a suspect, a spokesperson for the public prosecutor’s office said.
