Highway offramp in Vinkeveen cordoned off over bomb threat aimed at prison director
The police briefly closed the Vinkeveen offramp on the A2 highway coming from Amsterdam on Tuesday morning. There was a bomb threat directed at the director of a nearby prison, a police spokesperson told NOS.
According to the spokesperson, the police received a telephone report that explosives had been placed under the car of the director of the Zaanstad Judicial Complex, located about 40 kilometers away in Westzaan.
The man was already on the road when the police alerted him. He stopped his car at a parking lot near Vinkeveen for inspection, and the police closed down the highway offramp as a precaution.
The police also checked the cars belonging to other members of the prison management at the complex in Westzaan.
The police did not say whether they found anything.
Shortly after 9:30 a.m., Rijkswaterstaat reported that the Vinkeveen offramp was open again.
