Video: Man killed in Amsterdam Nieuw-West shooting; Police investigate multiple sites
A man was killed in a shooting in Amsterdam Nieuw-West early Sunday, police said. Authorities reported receiving multiple calls about gunfire in the area before finding the victim.
According to AT5, the first report came around 1:30 a.m. from Theodoor Hoytemastraat. Minutes later, a second call reported gunfire at Koningin Wilhelminaplein, roughly 800 meters away. Police eventually found the man on Terheideweg, behind the square. Emergency services attempted to resuscitate him on site, but he died from his injuries.
“The cause of the shooting is still unknown,” police said, urging witnesses and anyone with usable video footage to come forward.
Videos from the scene show the police setting up a white tent around the victim’s body and cordoning off the area. Specialized police units also arrived to assist in the investigation.
