Three injured after border pursuit ends in rollover on A2 in Limburg

Three people were injured Saturday after a cross-border traffic stop escalated into a pursuit and rollover crash on the A2 in Limburg, Dutch authorities said. The incident began when a driver ignored a stop signal near the Belgian border and ended when the car left the roadway and flipped onto its roof. All three occupants were injured and taken to the hospital.

According to De Telegraaf, during the pursuit, the vehicle attempted to ram the Marechaussee’s car but did not succeed, a spokesperson for the force told De Limburger.

The pursuit started in the afternoon at the border crossing in Eijsden, where the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee attempted to stop a passenger car with Belgian license plates for a check. The driver failed to comply and drove off, prompting a chase.

Near Sint Joost, the driver lost control. The car veered off the A2, rolled over, and came to rest upside down in the grass beside the road.
