Major drug investigation sees 10 arrests in 14 raids around Rotterdam, The Hague
Ten men were arrested and 14 properties were searched during a major drug-trafficking operation on Monday. The National Investigation and Intervention Unit, under the direction of the National Public Prosecution Service, carried out the searches in the Rotterdam and The Hague regions.
All suspects are men. Five are from Hoogvliet, while the others are from Poortugaal, Rotterdam, Zoetermeer, and Pijnacker. Their ages range from 22 to 58. Two of the suspects were arrested during a raid by the Special Intervention Service (DSI) at Brink van Pietje Bell in Pijnacker as part of Monday’s operation.
During the searches, authorities discovered and seized a variety of illegal and valuable items, including drugs, cash, watches, vehicles, and a firearm.
The police report that this action is part of a broader, ongoing investigation into drug trafficking. Earlier arrests in Maassluis in December led to the detention of a 64-year-old man from Oostvoorne and the seizure of over 350 kilograms of drugs along with several firearms.
The investigation is also linked to an operation in Spain, which uncovered approximately 190 kilograms of cocaine and resulted in the arrest of two individuals, one French national and one Dutch suspect.
Seven of the ten suspects appeared before the examining judge. The remaining three have been temporarily released but continue to be considered suspects in the ongoing investigation.
