Ajax nominates 5 new members to Supervisory Board, including player's father-in-law
Ajax announced on Tuesday that it is nominating Lesley Bamberger, Anita Coronel, Marry de Gaay Fortman, Edo Ophof, and Duncan Stutterheim to join its supervisory board (RvC).
According to Ajax, the RvC’s proposed appointments have backing from both the works council and the club’s board council. Lesley Bamberger is set to become RvC chair. A final decision on the nominations will be made at an extraordinary shareholders’ meeting, which will be scheduled soon.
Danny Blind announced in September that he would step down as a commissioner, but he intended to remain in the role until a replacement was appointed. Earlier this month, Ajax revealed that it had been in discussions with former player Edo Ophof.
Lesley Bamberger is the director and owner of the Kroonenberg Group and remained the owner of Almere City FC until 2025. A noteworthy fact about Bamberger is that he is the stepfather of Steven Berghuis, a current player in Ajax’s first team.
Anita Coronel serves as managing director at Boston Consulting Group, while Marry de Gaay Fortman works as a lawyer at Houthoff. Duncan Stutterheim co-founded entertainment company ID&T, co-owns the Westergasfabriek and the A’DAM Tower, and has held board positions, including at the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.
Vice-chair Dirk Anbeek stated in a press release that forming a strong new RvC team for the future was a priority. “We believe we have achieved this with the proposed nominees. The team’s structure is broad and fresh, covering all essential competencies, while also preserving strong ties to Amsterdam and a genuine connection to Ajax.”
