Video: Police arrest suspect after body found in brush near Dwarsweg in The Hague
Police in The Hague launched a major criminal investigation on Wednesday after an adult was found dead in the brush near Dwarsweg, and a suspect was arrested. Rodi reported that investigators are also reviewing witness reports of a loud argument in the area the night before the body's discovery.
Officers found the body after responding to a call from a person in a confused and frightened state. According to local outlet Regio15, the caller was believed to be a man without a fixed address who had been living in a tent in the wooded area. Emergency services later discovered the lifeless body in the brush. Regio15 reported that the deceased may also have been a person without a permanent residence.
A police spokesperson confirmed that a suspect was arrested after returning to the scene. The individual displayed unusual behavior and appeared to be under the influence. The suspect was taken to a police station, and investigators are examining whether the person was involved in the death.
The area around the Dwarsweg was cordoned off and designated a crime scene. Detectives are conducting a neighborhood canvass and interviewing residents. Multiple witnesses told local media that the night before the body was found, a loud argument in the area was so intense it woke nearby residents. The police are considering those statements in their investigation.
