Two Polish men arrested in suspicious death of a third in Lelystad

Dutch police have arrested two men in connection with the death of Pawel, a 40-year-old Polish man found dead in his home on September 30, 2025, the police reported. The Major Crime Team conducted the arrests on Friday, January 9.

Pawel was discovered at his residence on the Maerlant around 1:00 p.m. Police are certain that he died as a result of a crime. Officers later recovered a knife believed to have been the murder weapon on the grounds adjacent to the building. Forensic examinations are ongoing to analyze any traces on the weapon.

Authorities identified two suspects, both Polish nationals, aged 31 and 32, who are now in custody and suspected of involvement in Pawel’s death. Investigators have emphasized that the inquiry is continuing and are still seeking additional witnesses.

Pawel was last seen alive on Monday, September 28, around 6:00 p.m. Police previously shared security footage showing his final known movements, which led to eight tips from the public. “We want to thank everyone who has provided information, and more tips are still very welcome,” the police said.

The Public Prosecution Service is offering a 15,000-euro reward for any tip that leads to solving the case. Authorities urge anyone with relevant information, including camera footage, to contact the police at 0800-6070 or anonymously through Meld Misdaad Anoniem at 0800-7000.
