Massive fire forces evacuation in Hengelo apartment building

A large fire broke out early Saturday in a flat building on Nico Werkmanstraat in Hengelo, prompting an immediate evacuation, authorities reported.

Firefighters responded with multiple units and continue to battle the flames. The blaze is believed to have started in a storage room or garage box within the building.

The regional safety authority confirmed that no injuries have been reported so far.

Residents were advised to stay clear of smoke, keep windows and doors closed, and turn off ventilation systems if smoke entered their homes.
