Cold and gray, but dry weather for Sinterklaas; Milder and wetter weather this weekend
Sinterklaas will face cold and gray weather for Pakjesavond this evening, but he and his Pieten will at least be dry, according to Weeronline. Maximums will climb to around 6 or 7 degrees on Friday, dropping to around 5 degrees this evening. The weekend will be significantly milder, with maximums around 10 to 12 degrees, but it will also be wetter.
Friday started with some rain in the northeast and a code yellow fog warning in Zeeland, Zuid-Holland, and Noord-Brabant. Fog banks could reduce visibility to less than 200 meters in these provinces until around 11:00 a.m., the KNMI warned.
The rest of the day will be cloudy, with maybe some brief periods of sunshine in the afternoon. The southerly wind will be light in the east and moderate in the west. The dry weather is expected to hold until after Sinterklaas and his Pieten are done delivering presents.
Later this evening, rain will start in the southwest, gradually spreading across the entire country overnight. Saturday will be cloudy, with occasional showers. The moderate to quite strong southerly wind will bring milder air into the country. The morning will be chilly with temperatures between 4 and 6 degrees, but by the afternoon, thermometers will climb to 8 to 11 degrees.
Sunday will be very mild for the time of year, with temperatures of 10 degrees in the north and 12 degrees in the south. Typical temperatures for the first weekend in December are around 7 degrees Celsius. There will be occasional showers and a moderate southerly wind, which will again be quite strong at the coast.
