18-year-old arrested after failed car stunt in Limburg goes viral
An 18-year-old from Venlo was arrested on Tuesday for driving a car that was involved in a failed car stunt. A video of a boy being hit by a car while trying to jump over it in front of a middle school in Blerick, Limburg, has gone viral.
In the video, a group of people move out of the way as a Ford Ka comes towards them, with the exception of one man in grey sweatpants, who tries to jump over the car.
The extent of the boy’s injuries is currently unknown. In the video, you can see that his legs were hit by the car when he attempted to jump over it, which then leads to him being launched onto the roof of the car. The collision was to such an extent that the car’s front windshield suffered extensive damage.
The man was arrested later in the afternoon. Police suspect that the 18-year-old driver was responsible for the crash. The police are continuing their investigation and interviewing witnesses to determine the full circumstances.
The incident occurred on the Drie Decembersingel, across from the Blariacumcollege. Tim Strik, the school’s director, has called on people to stop sharing the video online. “Distributing these kinds of videos is both against the law and potentially harmful to the people involved.”
