Drunk taxi driver arrested after crashing into Amsterdam Oost lamppost

Early Sunday morning, a taxi driver in Amsterdam Oost crashed into a lamppost on the Mauritskade, causing it to topple across the road, AT5 reported.

The driver was arrested for driving under the influence under Article 8.

Police said they were called to the scene around 2:30 a.m. and confirmed that no other vehicles were involved in the accident.

Authorities reported that the taxi driver escaped the crash without serious injuries.
