Police seek couple who left Spanish gunshot victim at Lelystad hospital
Police in Lelystad are investigating after a 21-year-old Spanish man with multiple gunshot wounds was dropped off at St Jansdal Hospital on Saturday night, and doctors transferred him to another hospital for immediate surgery.
Police said a man and a woman brought the critically injured victim to the general practitioners’ post next to the hospital’s main entrance at about 10:45 p.m. A doctor examining him discovered he had gunshot wounds, which triggered a large emergency response. The victim’s current condition is unknown.
A 112 photographer from Omroep Flevoland reported that emergency services arrived in force and that several officers wearing heavy protective vests were positioned around the area.
The man and woman who dropped him off left before hospital staff realized he had been shot. A police spokesperson said it is a difficult situation because investigators need to speak with the pair to learn where the victim was found.
Police said the two were driving a dark-colored Mercedes and urged them—or anyone who knows them—to come forward.
