ABN Amro cuts 67 jobs from its sustainability expertise unit; 18% of team

ABN AMRO is cutting 67 jobs in its sustainability team of 400 experts, a spokesperson confirmed following reports by Het Financieele Dagblad. The cuts affect 58 permanent staff and nine temporary workers.

The company also added that early next year, "further optimizations" are expected in other departments.

The spokesperson stated that the move in its sustainability team aims to enhance the bank's operational efficiency. The bank has chosen to simplify what it calls a "broad range of sustainability activities." It stated that, currently, sustainability experts work across different parts of the organization and sometimes overlap in their tasks.

Sustainability remains "critical" to the bank, the spokesperson emphasized. The bank added that it believes that reorganizing its operations will make it more effective in helping customers, for example, in making their homes more sustainable.
