Woman chased and targeted in attempted shooting in Almere, suspect arrested
Police in Almere arrested a 45-year-old man for attempting to shoot a woman on the Markerkant on Tuesday evening. The man is being charged with attempted manslaughter. Nobody was injured in the incident.
At 5:30 p.m., officers received a report from a woman who was being chased by the suspect while she was driving her car. The shooting happened at the Markerkant industrial area; fortunately, nobody was injured.
Police believe that the incident came as a result of a personal conflict. A police spokesperson told VLN Nieuws that the shooting followed a conflict involving several people.
Officers found the firearm with the help of a sniffer dog. The weapon has now been seized. Photos show that one of the vehicles involved hit a lamppost. The police believe this to be the suspect’s vehicle.
Police have not shared how the victim and the suspect knew each other, nor the motive of the shooter or the woman's age. Officers are searching for any available camera footage to aid their investigation. They were also conducting an investigation of the nearby area. They have requested that anyone with any relevant information come forward.
