Lelystad driving instructor suspended for 2 years for assaulting teenage student

A 44-year-old driving instructor from Lelystad has been banned from work and sentenced to community service after assaulting a 17-year-old driving student during their lessons in Urk in April and May. He is also ordered to pay the victim 16000 euros.

The man had allegedly touched her thighs, stomach, and breasts. She was also forced to listen to him making elaborate "sex talk" against her will, Omroep Flevoland reports.

The girl managed to make a radio recording and took it straight to the police. On the recording, one can reportedly hear the instructor offering his advances and telling her that she would “experience pleasure.”

The instructor said he felt shame about the sexual conversations he had with the student, but he denied touching her. The judge found the evidence provided by the victim “consistent, detailed, and concrete,” imposing the 2-year professional ban—one year less than what the Public Prosecution Service had requested.

The instructor had already had a warning conversation with the police in the fall of 2023. This happened after the parents of another girl reported the man, saying there had been unwanted touching and sexual questions during the driving lessons.
