Far fewer trains to and from Schiphol due to signal fault
“Far fewer trains” are running to and from Schiphol Airport on Wednesday morning due to a signal malfunction, NS reported on its website. ProRail is trying to find and fix the issue.
An NS spokesperson told ANP that about half of the trains to, via, and from Schiphol are canceled, both Intercity and Sprinter trains. On the website, NS says it hopes that the issue will be resolved by 8:15 a.m., but the spokesperson told ANP that ProRail doesn’t even know where the broken switch is yet.
A ProRail spokesperson confirmed this. “We know it’s a switch, but we don’t know where. Only somewhere near Schiphol.” ProRail workers are searching for the broken switch. The issue started at around 1:00 a.m.
Fewer trains are also running between Leiden and The Hague, also due to a switch failure. NS expects this issue to be resolved by 8:15 a.m.
