Train strikes car at Boxtel crossing; Driver suspected of drunk driving

A train collided with a car Friday evening at a railway crossing in Boxtel, but no one was injured, according to Omroep Brabant.

The collision occurred around 9:15 p.m. Emergency services, including multiple ambulances, fire trucks, and a trauma helicopter, rushed to the scene. The two people inside the car escaped before the train struck, according to police. Neither sustained injuries.

Police said the driver is suspected of being under the influence and was taken to the station for further investigation.

Passengers on the train were evacuated, and the car had to be removed from the tracks. How the vehicle ended up on the railway crossing remains unclear.
