Spain arrests 17-year-old Dutch boy accused of being a contract killer

The police in Spain arrested a 17-year-old Dutch boy suspected of being a contract killer. The boy is suspected of assassinating a 25-year-old man from Zwolle in the Spanish resort of Fuengirola late last year. The local police arrested him recently when he reappeared in Fuengirola to allegedly carry out another assassination, RTL Nieuws reports. The boy is also wanted in the Netherlands for a murder.

The Fuengirola murder the Dutch boy is suspected of is that of 25-year-old Jasin Ajar during the early hours of 7 December 2024. Ajar was living in Spain for a gap year and was working at a bar in Fuengirola, a seaside resort between Málaga and Marbella. According to eyewitnesses, Ajar saw an armed man approaching the bar and managed to close the door. The Zwolle man fled through the rear exit onto the street, where the armed man - allegedly the 17-year-old boy - shot him 18 times with a semi-automatic Tokarev pistol.

The Málaga police believe that Ajar was not the intended target of the assassination and that his murder was a case of mistaken identity. The police assume the real target was another Dutchman who was in the bar at the time.

The Spanish police recently arrested the boy when he reappeared in Fuengirola. According to the local authorities, he had returned to carry out another assassination, which they prevented with his arrest. Because the boy is a minor, the police cannot provide further details. If the teenager is convicted of Ajar’s murder, it would be the first time in Spanish history that a child is convicted of assassinating someone, a spokesperson for the Málaga police told RTL.

The Spanish police also suspect two other Dutch nationals of involvement in Ajar’s assassination - a Dutch woman who allegedly arranged the gun used, and Amsterdam resident Afif J., who allegedly gave the gun to the 17-year-old suspect. J. was shot dead by the police in Rotterdam on January 4.

The Dutch authorities believe that the assassination in Fuengirola was ordered by 20-year-old drug criminal Nail el G. from Amsterdam. He is also suspected of orchestrating the assassination of Younes Arsalane in Osdorp in late December 2024 and a foiled plan to assassinate Amsterdam criminal Soufiane O.

Nail el G. is in custody in the Netherlands, and the investigation against him is ongoing.
