Man to remain detained two more weeks after assaulting minor in her bedroom
A 56-year-old man remains in custody for two more weeks after allegedly assaulting a minor girl in her bedroom on Saturday, September 6, authorities said. Police said the suspect, reportedly intoxicated and wearing makeup, broke into the girl’s home while she was alone.
Video footage circulating widely on social media shows the girl, wearing an FC Volendam shirt, filming herself as the man allegedly threatened to kill her. According to NH Nieuws, the assault appears linked to a local dispute over playing football in the neighborhood.
The man was arrested the same evening and is charged with assault, threats, and trespassing. A judge extended his detention for two weeks pending further investigation. The suspect’s home was also vandalized on September 7.
Mayor Rick Beukers called the incident deeply disturbing. “We all feel the sadness, fear, and questions this raises,” he said. He also warned against vigilante actions, emphasizing that throwing stones at the suspect’s home is unacceptable.
