Suspect in Lisa's murder and sexual assault remains in custody for 90 more days
The 22-year-old man suspected of murdering 17-year-old Lisa and committing a sexual assault will remain in custody for an additional 90 days, the Amsterdam court announced Monday.
This is the maximum period allowed for pretrial detention. The first formal hearing in the case will be a public preliminary session within this timeframe, according to NU.nl.
The suspect was arrested on Thursday, August 21, at a location of the Central Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers (COA) in Amsterdam. He was allegedly staying with a friend there and was not registered at the location.
He was initially detained in connection with a sexual offense that occurred on August 15 along the Weesperzijde in Amsterdam. A day after his arrest, police revealed that he was also suspected of murdering Lisa. The 17-year-old girl was killed during the night of August 19–20 in Duivendrecht while returning home to Abcoude after an evening out in Amsterdam.
