Hague man sentenced to 5 years for sex abuse of 30 girls

A 27-year-old man from The Hague was convicted of the online abuse of young girls ages 4-13 in the Netherlands and Belgium. The court in The Hague sentenced Ibrahim A. to a prison sentence of five years and mandatory psychiatric treatment in a tbs facility.

A. pretended to be a female model scout. He used this alias to ask 30 young victims for nude photos and videos in which the children performed sexually explicit acts. “The suspect worked cunningly,” the court stated.

The man approached the girls via TikTok, Instagram, and Snapchat. He pretended to be a young woman and invited the girls to participate in a modeling competition, giving them instructions on how to film the footage, first with clothing on and then nude, and with sexual content. He also threatened to issue fines to the girls.

A. has told the police that he approached between 50 and 100 girls. Footage of 27 unidentified victims was found on his computer.

“It is clear that the defendant acted entirely in pursuit of his own desires and urges, with little regard for the well-being of his victims,” the court stated. According to the court, there are serious concerns about where the footage has ended up. A. exchanged images of the girls with others, and it remains unknown where those images have ended up or may still surface.

The court considers it important that A. undergo intensive treatment. It also imposed an additional measure to ensure that he remains under supervision for a long time, even after the TBS treatment has ended.

The prosecution had demanded eight years in prison and TBS with mandatory confinement for A. The sentence was reduced because the court took into account that he fully cooperated with the criminal investigation and was forthcoming after his arrest. As a result, more victims could be identified. “He is aware of his illness and wants to undergo intensive treatment for his disorders,” the court stated.
