A4 toward Amsterdam closed after crash involving two Buses operated by Flixbus
The A4 motorway from The Hague to Amsterdam is closed near Nieuw-Vennep due to an accident involving two buses and two cars, according to the ANWB and Rijkswaterstaat. The A44, which connects to the A4 at Nieuw-Vennep, is also closed. According to the ANWB, the buses involved belong to Flixbus.
The accident occurred around 4:15 p.m. near the Burgerveen interchange. Several emergency services, including police, ambulances, and the fire brigade, were deployed to the scene. A spokesperson for the regional safety authority said that, as far as is known, there are no serious injuries. However, several people with neck pain were examined by paramedics.
A Flixbus spokesperson said the company is investigating "the causes and consequences of the accident." Replacement transport is on its way to pick up the bus passengers, Rijkswaterstaat reported.
Traffic heading from The Hague to Amsterdam can take a detour via Utrecht, using the A12 and A2 motorways, the ANWB advised. Rijkswaterstaat expects the road closure to last into the evening, and delays during rush hour are likely.
