Freezing, naked man rescued from buoy near Vlieland
The sea rescue brigade KNRM rescued a naked and cold man from a buoy near Vlieland one morning this weekend. His morning swim did not go as planned, KNRM said on Instagram.
At 6:14 in the morning, two KNRM boats responded to help “a guy who thought he’d take a refreshing morning dip… without swimming trunks. Only, the distance was a bit longer than expected. Ended up naked and freezing on a buoy.”
“We got him safely on board,” the KNRM said. “The photo is blurred - for obvious reasons.”
On a serious note, the KNRM warned swimmers not to overestimate themselves. “The water seems inviting, especially in warm weather,” the rescue brigade said, but “cold water, currents, and distances take more of a toll on your body than you think.”
And please wear a swimsuit, the KNRM added.
