Teacher recovering at home after getting stabbed by parent at primary school musical
The 53-year-old teacher who was stabbed by a parent at a primary school musical in Alblasserdam last Wednesday is recovering at home. He was discharged from the hospital on Sunday, Namens de Familie, an organization that acts as spokesperson for victims of crimes and disasters, told Rijnmond.
“He’s doing well, but he obviously needs to continue to get plenty of rest,” spokesperson Niels Dekker of Namens de Familie said. “After several very stressful and intense days, Recep and his family are especially happy and relieved that he can now continue his recovery at home.”
The primary school teacher was trying to break up an argument between parents at the Landvast cultural center on Haven in Alblassserdam when one of the parents stabbed him. At the time, the 8th-grade pupils of Het Palet primary school were performing their traditional farewell musical in the hall.
Emergency services rushed the teacher to the hospital in critical condition. Late on Thursday afternoon, the police announced that he was stable and conscious again.
The police arrested three men for the stabbing. They are still in custody.
