Warm start to week will give way to cooler, rainier midweek before summer heat returns
The Netherlands will see a brief dip in summer temperatures and more scattered showers early this week, followed by a return to warmer, sunnier conditions by the end of the week, the weather forecast shows.
Monday will start off warm and mostly sunny, with maximum temperatures reaching 25 degrees in many areas. The southeast will be the warmest, hitting 27 degrees, while the northwest remains slightly cooler at around 23 degrees. Sunshine will be accompanied by cumulus clouds that may develop into isolated showers later in the day. The southeast could experience a thunderstorm.
Beachgoers should note that coastal areas will be cooler than inland, with a fairly strong wind blowing. This wind may be uncomfortable for those just relaxing on the sand but will create good conditions for surfing and kitesurfing.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, temperatures will drop to between 20 and 22 degrees. Sunshine will be less frequent, replaced by an increase in scattered showers. The wind will strengthen during Tuesday afternoon and evening, especially along the coast where it will blow strongly.
From Thursday onward, the weather will improve as showers become less frequent and the sun breaks through more often. Temperatures will gradually rise back to summer levels, with highs between 22 and 26 degrees on Thursday and 23 to 27 degrees on Friday.
The weekend promises even warmer weather, with regional highs reaching 28 degrees. Winds will ease compared to earlier in the week, making it ideal weather for outdoor activities or a trip to the beach.
