The accident happened at around 10:20 a.m. at the construction site on Kronenburgsingel. Work is being done to expand the Kronenburg shopping center. Part of the roof collapsed during demolition work, sending concrete and steel crashing to the ground, according to the broadcaster.
“Part of a roof collapsed and landed on the person,” the inspectorate told the broadcaster. “The same person then reportedly fell from a great height.”
“The person was responsive and was checked by paramedics,” the spokesperson said. The person was taken to a hospital. Their current condition is unknown.
Work was halted after the accident, and the fire brigade secured the construction site, cordoning off the surrounding area. The Labor Inspectorate and the Arnhem Municipal Environmental Agency (ODRA) are on site to investigate what happened.
