False terror threat shuts down Den Bosch station; Passenger arrested for hoax

A false report of a terror threat shut down train traffic at the station in 's-Hertogenbosch on Saturday afternoon, leading to a full evacuation and the arrest of the reporting passenger for making a false statement, NOS reported.

Around 5:30 p.m., a traveler contacted police claiming to have overheard three men in a train talking about “carrying out an attack.” The report triggered an immediate response. Authorities halted the train at the station, evacuated the platform, and began checking all passengers onboard.

Police located the three men mentioned in the report. They turned out to be regular travelers and were unaware of any wrongdoing. After a delay of about one hour, they were allowed to continue their journey, along with all other passengers.

“The station was temporarily closed as a precaution after we received a report from a train passenger about a conversation involving a potential attack,” police wrote in a statement on X. “The train was held at the station and passengers were checked.”

The man who made the report was arrested for filing a false report. Authorities did not release his identity or a possible motive.
