German man arrested at Intents Festival for filming woman showering without consent
A German man was arrested at the Intents Festival on campsite on Monday on allegations he secretly recorded video of a woman showering without her consent. Despite being caught by surprise when she saw the device used to shoot video, the woman from Westerkwartier, Groningen, snatched the item and alerted security.
The three-day festival kicked off on Friday in Oisterwijk, Noord-Brabant. The event closed on Sunday night, with the last campers departing the following morning. Organizers set up two different sets of shower facilities on the campground.
It was on Monday morning that the 28-year-old victim spotted the phone being placed under the shower door while she was in the cabin. "She quickly grabbed the phone from the unknown man, wrapped herself in a towel and brought the device to the festival security," police said in a statement.
"The security guards immediately called the police, and then the suspect was arrested and taken to the police station." He was still in custody later in the afternoon, when police planned to interrogate him.
Festival organizers expected at least 65,000 people at the event in Oisterwijk. All tickets were sold out, with weekend passes starting at 165.45 euros without access to the campground, or about 32 euros more with camping access.
