Six hurt in crash on A20, three of them arrested; A28 closed over truck accident
Six people were injured in an accident involving multiple vehicles on the A20 near Nieuwekerk aan den Ijssel on Tuesday evening. One sustained serious injuries. The police arrested three of the injured for dangerous driving, Omroep West reports. An accident with a truck also closed the A28 highway near Hoevalaken on Wednesday morning.
The accident on the A20 between Rotterdam and Gouda happened around 8:10 p.m. and involved two passenger cars and a truck.
The highway was closed in both directions to give emergency services room to work. A helicopter with a trauma team on board also landed on the highway.
The cause of the accident is still unclear. The police are investigating.
The accident on the A28 happened at around 3:10 a.m. on the A28 between Nijkerk and the Hoevelaken junction. The truck crashed into the crash barrier and flipped. No one got hurt, Omroep Gelderland reported.
The highway was closed toward Utrecht for hours, but the Rijkswaterstaat has since allowed traffic to pass slowly via the parallel lane.
By around 7:00 a.m., the Rijkswaterstaat recovery workers managed to get the truck back on its wheels. They are still working on cleanup and repairing the crash barrier. That will take until at least 1:00 p.m., Rijkswaterstaat said.
