Amber Alert issued for two children who may have been kidnapped; Last seen in Dalfsen
The police have issued an Amber Alert for two missing children they suspect were abducted on Monday morning. Leya’nyssa, 11, and M’qaydian, 6, were last seen on Monday morning at around 8 a.m. near the train station in Dalfsen, Overijssel.
Authorities did not explain why they believe the two children were kidnapped. "It is unknown where they are, with whom they are with, and their mode of transportation. It is unknown what clothing they are wearing," police said in a message issued on the citizen alert system Burgernet.
The police did not specify whether the two children are related, but the alert names both children together. Leya’nyssa is described as an 11-year-old girl, about 1.55 meters tall, with light-colored eyes. M’qaydian is 6 years old, also about 1.25 meters tall, with light-colored eyes as well. Initially, the Amber Alert misstated Leya’nyssa's height as 1.25 meters.
The police said they were deeply concerned for the children’s well-being and have turned to the public for assistance. Dalfsen is located approximately 15 kilometers east of Zwolle and about 35 kilometers west of the German border. Authorities have urged anyone with information on the children’s whereabouts to contact the police immediately.
The police in the Netherlands only issue an Amber Alert when they believe that person is in immediate danger. Children whose whereabouts are unknown, but are not believed to be in a threatening situation, may become the subject of a Missing Child Alert.
“With the AMBER Alert, the police are calling on everyone to look out for a missing child whose life is in danger,” the Dutch police explained. The most recent Amber Alerts in the Netherlands were issued in 2022 for the disappearances of Jayden in The Hague and Gino in Kerkrade.
